Hi,

For guys that don't have "Desktop [SYNC]" option, try deleting other services with the word [SYNC] in it. For my case it was my gmail service (GMAIL[SYNC]). I deleted it and the box ungreyed itself out. Of course this is done at your own risk!

I use a personal Bold 9700.

Hi, you misunderstood what the Hall of Shame is for. It has nothing to do with "using it without paying license fees to the appropriate license holders". It has to do with violation of the (L)GPL, the license under which FFmpeg is written.

Hey man, I have had this working great for about a month now, great post!!

However, today I went to use it for a particular user and now I get this error:

2010-03-10T15:45:27 AST|PushToken(Error )|java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response code: 403 for URL: http://(servername):8080/push?DESTINATION=(email addy)&PORT=6446&REQUESTURI=/

Looks like the same issue as Lewis Papaleo.

I can connect fine to my BES on port 8080 and MDS service is running, nothing has changed that I'm aware of...

any ideas?

Thanks

This is great info but don't forget you still need to include Google or Postini's mail servers in the SPF statement otherwise your mail could be blocked when sending from the web.

I use postini so my SPF statement is:

v=spf1 ip4:207.126.144.0/20 ip4:64.18.0.0/20 ip4:74.125.148.0/22 ip4:216.9.240.0/20 ip4:206.51.26.0/24 include:_spf.google.com ~all

Hi,

I had the following problem which is not exactly the same as the described above, but it is close enough: I updated from 8.x to 9.0.x today and all my music was lost, some 2 GB, all gone to "Others"

I did solve it as follows:
- delete all music, podcast, downloads, videos, recordings from ipod that is still recognisable under the /var/mobile/Media and /var/mobile/Media/iTunes_Control directories, if any (I used openssh)
- move iTunes_control to iTunes_control-bad or similar (move NOT copy) -- to make a backup, just in case
- delete all contents inside F00--F13 (in my case just 13 folders) in the Music folder inside iTunes control. This was the "Others" content
- sync

Voilà! "Others" should disappear

Cheers,
Slono

Thank you! We've been using Google Apps for Education for a while and a few of my users just started Blackberries (even though they are not "officially" supported) and they were having trouble sending email. I'm not using SPF but I am using allowed sender ranges in Postini and this was the source of the problem. Once I added the RIM ranges to the allowed sender range in Postini, my Blackberry users could once again send email.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Hi there,

I know that this article was about implementation for an iPhone but as I can see on the article and the comments you guys seem to know your stuff :-) Therefore I would like to ask you if you have experienced when importing the .sdtid file into the RSA application running on Windows Mobile that is prompts for a password. I have not configured the file as copy protected or password protected. The strange thing is it works fine on some of our Windows Mobile phones (HTC) but I have had this issue with two phones now (different HTC types) and of course both are Managers phones :-)

Hope you can advice,
Vik

Using the comcast website to opt-out doesn't work, at least not reliably. And as HankB said, even when it does, the dang thing won't stay off.

I am not sure it really lets you opt-out, even when it appears to work.

<blockquote>
"In some cases, the ISPs provide settings to disable hijacking of NXDOMAIN responses. Correctly implemented, such a setting reverts DNS to standard behavior. Some ISPs, however, instead use a web browser cookie to store the preference. In this case, the underlying behavior is not resolved: DNS queries continue to be redirected, while the ISP redirect page is replaced with a counterfeit HTTP 404 page. Applications other than web-browsers cannot be opted out of the scheme using cookies."—<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DNS_hijacking" rel="nofollow">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DNS_hijacking</a></blockquote>

I have not researched to see which method the comcast opt-out implementation uses. I was told however that deleting cookies and clearing the cache were part of the process, along with rebooting the modem and a 24+ hour wait.

I do know however that their is an alternative that works immediately. Use an alternate DNS server on your local machine.
Comcast provides a list of opt-out DNS servers <a href="http://dns.comcast.net/dns-ip-addresses2.php" rel="nofollow">here.</a>

The quote below shows the public DNS servers I use. For me they have proven fast and reliable, mileage may vary. There is a more thorough list at the cited link.

<blockquote>Service provider: vnsc-pri.sys.gtei.net
Public Name server IP address:

    * 4.2.2.1
    * 4.2.2.2
    * 4.2.2.3
    * 4.2.2.4
    * 4.2.2.5
    * 4.2.2.6
—<a href="http://theos.in/windows-xp/free-fast-public-dns-server-list/" rel="nofollow">http://theos.in/windows-xp/free-fast-public-dns-server-list/</a>
</blockquote>
I hope this proves helpful.
